Portland, Ore. (AP) — Tim Douglas scored 16 points and Portland State easily took care of Pacific Lutheran, a Division III school, 79-43 on Wednesday night.
The Vikings (1-1) never trailed, leading by as many as 37 points in the second half. Portland State went on a 29-7 run in the second half, sparked by a jumper from Brandon Cataldo.
The Vikings had four players in double-digits, including a solid performance from Zach Gengler with 10 points and five rebounds. Coming off a loss at UNLV last Friday, the Vikings got help from DaShaun Wiggins with 13 points, making 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
Pacific Lutheran couldn’t get anything going in the second half and fell in its season opener. The Knights, coming off a losing season were led by Bryce Miller who ended the game with 14 points.
