Brown pulls away from Sacred Heart 85-73

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Sean McGonagill scored 23 points Saturday to lead Brown through 14 lead changes and five ties to an 85-73 victory over Sacred Heart.

McGonagill shot 4 of 6 from the field and scored 14 points in the second half to stretch a close halftime lead (2 points) to the largest of the game (12 points). The Bears last trailed at 47-46 with 14:59 left to play but consistently pulled away after taking the lead.

Brown (2-1) shot 52.8 percent (7 of 13) from behind the arc while the Pioneers shot 45.5 percent (10 of 22) in its home opener.

Louis Montes (24) and Chris Evans (23) led Sacred Heart in scoring. The Pioneers (0-3) trailed 22-12 with 10:23 left in the first half and went on a 12-point rally to take the lead 24-22. The score remained close and by the end of the first half Brown led 38-36.
