Central Arkansas holds off Nicholls St. 17-10

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Ryan Howard threw two touchdown passes as Central Arkansas scored 17 straight points and held off Nicholls State 17-10 on Saturday.

Howard was 17 of 27 for 150 yards and threw a TD pass to Clay Murphy (7 yards) and Desmond Smith (48 yards) in Central Arkansas’s last road game of the season. Smith finished with 140 receiving yards for the Bears (6-5, 3-3 Southland Conference).

Andrew Dolan kicked a 40-yard field goal for the Colonels (4-7, 1-5) five minutes into the first quarter to give them their only lead of the game. Beaux Hebert and Tuskani Figaro both played as QB for Nicholls State, and Hebert threw for the Colonels’ final two possessions. Hebert capped a 14 play, 89-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Erik Buchanan with 46 seconds left to play for the last score of the matchup.
