Letter: GOP resistance holds up America

The Columbian
Published: October 16, 2013, 5:00pm

The conservative lawmakers in the U.S. House are showing their true feelings about the American public, and they don’t like America today. The thoughtless shutdown created by the GOP has forgotten average enlisted military personnel and their families, yet high-dollar military spending continues.

Many retirees live on a fixed budget and have bills to pay, and have medical costs that are outrageous. This action hinders their ability to pay their bills. The desire to eliminate the Affordable Care Act, a program to help Americans with medical care and costs, is the GOP’s real target.

I could go on with examples, but that would take forever. Hopefully, common sense will prevail, and America will win.
