VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Austin Gahafer threw three touchdown passes on a career-high 458 yards passing as Morehead State erased a first-half deficit for a 42-28 win over Valparaiso Saturday.

Morehead State (3-4, 3-1 Pioneer Football League) won its third consecutive conference game for the first time since 2007 while Valparaiso (1-6, 1-3) dropped its third straight game.

Down 28-19 at halftime, the Eagles outscored the Crusaders 23-0 in the second half, led by two rushing touchdowns from Rob Harden.

Harden’s rushing score in the third quarter closed the gap to 28-26, and a field goal later gave Morehead State the lead. Harden’s second score followed by Gahafer’s third touchdown pass gave the Eagles a two-score lead.

Gahafer also set a career-high mark with 41 completions. Jake Raymond led the Eagles’ receivers, catching 12 passes for 133 yards, both career-highs.

Eric Hoffman threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns to lead Valparaiso.
