NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Devin Powell threw two touchdowns and the Tulane’s defense held Tulsa scoreless in the second half on its way to a 14-7 win on Saturday.

Tulane’s (6-2, 4-0 C-USA) defense forced four turnovers, including three interceptions of Dane Evans. Tulane wasn’t sharp on offense either, turning the ball over two times and the Green Wave also missed a 29-yard field goal.

Trey Watts scored Tulsa’s (2-5, 1-2) lone touchdown on the first play of the second quarter to give the Golden Hurricane a 7-0 lead. Tulsa had won eight-straight games against Tulane.

Evans, a freshman, made his first career start with Cody Green out with an injury. Evans was 13 of 30 for 139 yards.

Powell’s first touchdown came on a 19-yard strike to Justyn Shackleford and Ryan Grant caught the winning TD from 33 yards out.
