PORTLAND — A century-old water main broke early Tuesday in Portland’s Old Town.

Portland Water Bureau spokesman Tim Hall says the break was reported before 1 a.m. at the intersection of West Burnside and Southwest Fourth.

Police estimated water flowing down the street was six inches deep.

KOIN reports several blocks of Burnside are shut down for repairs.

The 24-inch diameter cast iron pipe was installed in 1913.
