Mark Morris took the long route past Hudson’s Bay at Kiggins Bowl.

The Monarchs from Longview scored first-half touchdowns on drives of 82, 86 and 86 yards before closing the second quarter with a quick drive en route to a non-league win.

Austin Smith ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns and Keigan Baker ran for 114 yards and two scores as the Monarchs (2-0) methodically dominated the Eagles (0-2).

Mark Morris netted 358 yards on 52 running plays, and quarterback Max Tilton threw for 121 yards and one touchdown.

The only touchdown for Hudson’s Bay was a 39-yard catch and run by DeWayne Whitley. Whitley caught a third-down pass from quarterback Jeremy Matheny and found his way to the end zone with 2:12 left in the game.

That touchdown came on the first play after the game was delayed more than 20 minutes because of a neck injury to Eagles receiver Ayrrius Presley. Presley was taken to the hospital as a precaution. According to Hudson’s Bay athletic director Stoney Meyers, Presley was diagnosed with a neck strain but he was expected to be released from the hospital Friday night.

Presley was hurt when he was hit after catching a 6-yard pass over the middle.

Mark Morris ran 64 offensive plays to Bay’s 33. The Eagles ran the ball nine times.

Matheny netted 45 rushing yards on four carries including a 26-yarder. He completed 12 of 24 passes for 121 yards. Whitley had three catches for 64 yards.
