The state Employment Security Department has posted an alert on its homepage to answer questions about unemployment insurance and WorkSource services in the event of a federal shutdown. The information is in an “Alert” box in the upper left hand corner of the web page.

Last month, about 102,000 people statewide claimed unemployment benefits, and roughly 3,000 to 4,000 of them were from Clark County, said Sheryl Hutchison, spokeswoman for the Employment Security Department.
