WSU Vancouver to celebrate Arbor Day

Washington State University Vancouver will celebrate Arbor Day with two tree-planting events on campus, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave. Both are free, public events. Parking is available at meters and in the Blue Daily Lot for $3. Weekend parking is free.

o Arbor Day kickoff with Chancellor Mel Netzhammer: 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. April 9 in the quad with a ceremonial planting of an Oregon ash.

o Tree-planting event with the Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at the pond by the sports fields.

To sign up to volunteer to plant trees, email streamteam@clarkpud.com or call 360-992-8585. Volunteers should bring their own gloves. Refreshments will be provided.

StreamTeam, dedicated to addressing problems facing the Salmon Creek watershed, has planted more than 700,000 trees since its inception in 1992, restoring approximately 120 acres of land along 15 miles.
