o Root-pruning, wiring and repotting your bonsai: 11 a.m. April 19. Bring a bonsai. There will be a fee for potting material used in class. Silent observers welcome for free.

o Spring potting party: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26. Bring containers and ideas of what to plant; employees will provide the soil, fertilizer and hands-on assistance to help create containers for the home. Fee dependent upon materials used.

o What to do in the garden in May: 11 a.m. May 3. A monthly seminar on maintenance in the landscape and garden.

o Old-fashioned moss basket workshop: 1 p.m. May 3, limited to 20 participants, $55. How to create baskets and containers using moss.

o Veggie gardening 101 & beyond: Toree Hiebert will lead a discussion of veggie gardening, from soil composting and fertilization, seed starting and planting to suggestions for successful varieties and strategies for watering and garden layout. Free.

WSU Extension Clark County master gardener volunteer training: The 12-week training begins runs 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 3 and continues Wednesdays through Nov. 19. Upon completion, participants are expected to complete a 50-hour internship in their first year and serve 35 hours yearly thereafter to maintain certification, $245. Home and Garden Idea Fair: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 25-26 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 27 at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield. A weekend of family-friendly activities and demonstrations featuring ideas for the home, yard and garden. Highlights include landscape displays, home and garden-related products and services, as well as one of the largest plant sales in the region. Canned-food donations encouraged. Brian French, with Ascending the Giants: 6:30 p.m. May 6, Water Resources Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Bruce E. Hagensen community room, Vancouver. Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County and Vancouver Urban Forestry will sponsor the presentation showcasing Ascending the Giants specimen trees, as well as large trees within our community and mature trees in our landscapes.
