Historic settlement could have impact across the nation

A legal settlement announced Monday will require the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to monitor and report the amount of pollutants released from eight dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers, including Bonneville Dam about 40 miles east of Vancouver.
Brett VandenHeuvel, executive director of advocacy group Columbia Riverkeeper, called the agreement “groundbreaking.”
