• Firstenburg Community Center is looking for front desk and scanner assistance. Scanners will check passes to ensure people passing beyond the scanning position are pass-holders. Front desk assistants provide general information to in-person and telephone customers and other responsibilities as required.

• Fish of Vancouver desperately needs food haulers to transport donations from area businesses and organizations back to the food bank. Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds and have a valid driver’s license.

• Clark County Food Bank is in need of help every second and fourth Tuesday of the month to help repackage food received from food drives or bulk food purchases into boxes to send to partner food pantries and agencies

• Oregon and SW Washington Blood Program seeks volunteers to greet, check in and monitor blood donors at area drives and at the Vancouver Mall Blood Center. Community outreach volunteers are also needed to help promote blood drives in the community.

• Retired and Senior Volunteer Program seeks Pen Pals for the 2014-2015 school year. Volunteer Pen Pals write (and receive) a letter once a month to an assigned student from an area school. This project provides an opportunity to develop a friendship with a child while helping them develop writing and communication skills.

• Heritage Farm Gardening Volunteers: The Clark County Food Bank cultivates and harvests 50,000 to 70,000 pounds of carrots and other vegetables at our 78th Street Heritage Farm and Field of Plenty property. We welcome individuals, groups, families, school groups, community groups, and faith-based groups. Farm work parties are scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

• Fresh Alliance Truck Driving or Riding/Helping: shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and involve either driving or riding in a 20-foot box truck. Routes travel throughout Clark County, stopping at various local grocery stores through our Fresh Alliance Program partnership. Other duties include lifting 40-50 pound boxes. No CDL license required.

• Fresh Alliance Sorting: Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a continual basis. A brief training is required and conducted on site.

The Board of Clark County Commissioners is seeking a local resident to represent unincorporated areas on the Clark County Arts Commission. A four-year term is available starting in September. The commission meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the Public Service Center, sixth floor, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver. Submit a letter to Jennifer Clark, Board of County Commissioners, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver 98666-5000 or by email to jennifer.clark@clark.wa.gov. Deadline is 5 p.m. Aug. 29.
