Pioneer Street closures to continue in Ridgefield

Construction crews will continue their work this month installing a new wastewater pipeline in Ridgefield, leaving part of Pioneer Street out of commission.

Pioneer Street, also known as state Highway 501, has been reduced to one lane from North 45th Avenue to South 56th Place this week. The closure will remain in effect 24 hours a day through Friday.

After that, all lanes of that section will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday.

Interstate 5 Exit 14 will remain open during that time, and businesses in the junction area will be open and accessible. However, drivers heading to downtown Ridgefield from I-5 should expect delays and consider using alternate routes while traffic is reduced to one lane.

Drivers going to Ridgefield from I-5 are encouraged to take Exit 16 in La Center and follow a detour south along Northwest 31st Avenue, which later becomes North 45th Avenue. From there, drivers will be able to access Pioneer Street and head west to downtown.

The construction is part of the Discovery Corridor Wastewater Transmission System. The system connects a pipeline from the I-5 junction to the Salmon Creek Treatment Plant.
