DEPLOYED

Army Maj. Gavin O. Luher of Vancouver and other soldiers from the 21st Theater Sustainment Command’s 266th Finance Management Support Center have deployed to Kuwait and Afghanistan, where they will oversee the financial support mission for U.S. Central Command on a nine-month assignment. Luher is a 1996 graduate of Evergreen High School.

BASIC TRAINING

Members of the Air Force with local ties recently completed basic training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. They are:

Airman 1st Class Joseph D. Ficken, an honor graduate, son of Christine and Daniel Ficken of Vancouver and a 2006 graduate of Heritage High School. He earned a master’s degree in 2011 from Multnomah University in Portland.

Airman Rhett M. Stresing, son of Stephanie Stresing of Vancouver and a 2012 graduate of Clackamas High School, Clackamas, Ore.
