MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — American Jamie Hampton has withdrawn from the Australian Open because of a hip injury.

Tournament officials said Saturday that Hampton will be replaced by another American, lucky loser Irini Falconi. Falconi will play Jana Cepelova of Slovakia in the first round at Melbourne Park.

Hampton was seeded 27th in the tournament, a placing that will now go to Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia.
