NEW YORK (AP) — Mamdooha edged Vero Amore by a nose on Sunday in the $98,000 Ruthless Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct.

Those two waged a fierce battle in the deep stretch, with Mamdooha prevailing for her third win in four starts. It was more than nine lengths back to third-place finisher Alpaca Fina.

Eddie Castro rode the winner for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. The time was 1:12.01 for the six furlongs in the mud.

Mamdooha paid $6.10, $3.40 and $3.80. Vero Amore returned $3.90 and $5.50 and Alpaca Fina paid $5.30 to show.
