SALEM, Ore. — An injured hawk that was found on Highway 22 in West Salem after it apparently was hit by a car Wednesday is recovering at the Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center.
The center’s Jessy gill tells the Statesman Journal the red-tailed hawk had scraped feet, a swollen eye and bleeding from her nostrils.
She wouldn’t have been able to survive on her own, but she’s resting comfortably at the center where they’re watching for internal bleeding.
Gill says if all goes well, the hawk could be released in two or three weeks. She says hawks are getting ready to breed and they’re pretty sure this hawk has a mate out there.
