A Battle Ground woman was assaulted by two people Wednesday night in the parking lot of the newly opened Wal-Mart, according to Battle Ground police.

Officers were called to the store at 7:50 p.m. after a 48-year-old woman reported that she had been assaulted 10 minutes prior. She had minor injuries and refused medical treatment, according to city spokeswoman Bonnie Gilberti.

Officers are reviewing video surveillance for evidence. According to the footage, the suspects were associated with a silver SUV. One suspect is described as a black woman in her 20s, who is short, heavyset and was wearing her hair in a ponytail at the time of the incident. A second suspect is described as a black female, possibly in her teens, who is tall and slender and was wearing her hair in a bun.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Aaron Kanooth at 360-342-5242 or aaron.kanooth@cityofbg.org. People can submit anonymous tips at www.cityofbg.org/tips.
