Letter: Respect voters and follow I-502

I don’t understand Clark County Commissioners Tom Mielke and David Madore, two Republicans who I surmise would be incensed over issues related to overturning statewide votes that lean conservative, i.e. Initiatives 695/722/747/960/1053/1185. What do these have in common besides Tim Eyman sponsored … they were all approved by the voters and were struck down as unconstitutional by our Supreme Court.

What is more interesting regarding “the federal government has a right to regulate and criminalize cannabis, even for medical purposes” is the May 28 article “Inslee to feds: Pot businesses need banks.” A recent letter signed by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee inquired about banks and credit unions waiting to hear from federal banking agencies.

As I see it, no movement is on foot to challenge Initiative 502 and the feds are working to engage banks so “cash” transactions are not the sole method of payment.

So I ask our commissioners “what are you doing?” Your conscience should be to implement and acquiesce to voter-approved issues, not personalize and decide as the Supreme Court may but hasn’t.

Like it or not, we elected you, we approved Initiative 502, is there a connection here? Respect statewide votes.
