Clark College report: Baseball team improves to 7-3

Baseball

Last week: The Penguins won three of four games against Centralia over the weekend, improving to 7-3 on the season.

Saturday on the road, Clark won 4-0 and 2-1. Travis Eckert threw a three-hit complete game shutout, striking out eight and walking one. Kevin Hamann pitched seven shutout innings in the nightcap.

Sunday, Clark split a doubleheader in its first home games of the season. Kyle Vanderkin homered to lead off the first game, a 3-1 victory. Clark dropped the finale 4-0 in 12 innings.

Next week: Clark will host Treasure Valley for a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon. Sunday, Linfield will visit for a doubleheader starting at noon.

Softball

Last week: Clark did not play in the past week.

Next games: Clark’s next games are March 21-23 at the South Inter-Region Tournament at Delta Park.

Track and Field

Last week: Eric Zechenelly won the 400 hurdles in 57.20 seconds at the Saints Open at Mt. Hood Community College. Andrew Duffy placed second in the 3,000 steeplechase and Kevin Washington took second in the 200.

Next week: Clark’s next meet is March 29 at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore.
