Letter: Dealings with Russia are unchanged

I’m confused by our seeming hysteria over current events in Ukraine. Did we really expect the Russians to let us have the presence we would have had in Ukraine had they done nothing? Have we forgotten the Cuban Missile Crisis? We were willing to go to war to force the Russians to move away from our territory. It seems rather naive of us to expect them to sit and do nothing in light of where Ukraine was headed before the Russians intervened there.

Imagine a very Russian-friendly government in either Canada or Mexico; how would we respond?
