Youth Achievement Awards set for June

Nominations are being accepted for the 16th annual Youth Achievement Awards celebration June 15.

Coordinated by the Clark County Youth Commission under the guidance of the county’s Department of Community Services, the awards recognize those who have demonstrated achievement in any of 12 categories: arts; career development; citizenship; courage; education; environmental stewardship; family life; inspiration; leadership; personal achievement; sportsmanship; and tolerance. Up to 300 young people will receive an award.

Nomination forms are at www.clark.wa.gov/youth-family.

Completed forms should be sent to Youth Achievement Celebration, Attn: Clark County Youth House, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, 98666-5000. They also may be faxed to 360-397-2164.Nominations must be postmarked no later than April 18.

The Youth Commission is a leadership development program and advisory board established by the county commissioners in April 1998. Members age 11 through 19 from throughout the county provide a youth-oriented point of view to the work of the commissioners, county departments and community organizations.
