Letter: Correct mistake at next election

With his April 29 letter, ” ‘Brainstorming’ taxing on taxpayer,” Bob Wharton hit the nail on the head. This proposed tax suggested for our local paper is nothing short of criminal misuse of the Environmental Services office by Don Benton. He is double-dipping at the trough of the taxpayer and he has absolutely no qualifications for the office. Where is his degree from an accredited school on this subject?

What qualifications do County Commissioners David Madore and Tom Mielke, who appointed Benton, have in the area of environmental quality? That’s right, I’m referring to the M&M boys again. I take full responsibility for my comments as I voted for both of the M&M boys and, brother, do I regret that decision.

There comes a time when the electorate must face the fact that a huge mistake has been made and the only way that we can rectify it is to vote these three out of office. I am unsure of the procedures necessary to unappoint Benton from his office or even if it can be done, but come on people, wake up, it is your hard-earned tax dollars that these three are wasting. Even if we have to wait until the next election, let’s get rid of the old regime and look to the future with some new faces.
