Two people died late Friday when a vehicle crashed at high speed into a pole at near the intersection of Northeast 136th Avenue and Fourth Street in Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The crash was reported at about 9:45 p.m., according to Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

Kapp said Police arriving on scene found the vehicle had struck a pole and that its two occupants had died.

The force of the crash ripped the vehicle apart. Kapp said “extreme speed” appears to be a factor in the crash.

She said traffic would be closed eastbound on Northeast Fourth Street, prior to the intersection and southbound Northeast 136th Avenue while the investigation continues.
