The woman accused of leaving her 18-month-old son alone in a house where he died in a fire was charged Tuesday with second-degree manslaughter.

The Olympian reported that Ashley A. Conroy, 22, was released without bail pending her arraignment Nov. 18 in Thurston County Superior Court.

Prosecutors said the smoke inhalation death of William Bradsnyder early Monday at the home northwest of Olympia was tragic but preventable. He was left in a room where an electric grill was being used for heat. His body was found with a leg tangled in the cord as if he had crawled into it, starting the fire.
