Next Tuesday, Toms Shoes will open in Portland’s Pearl District, marking its third U.S. location.

Toms spokeswoman Emily Tschirhart said the retailer hopes the new store will serve as more than just a place to buy its “one-for-one” shoes and sunglasses. The goal, she said, is for the store to serve as a community hub and offer free Toms coffee and WiFi to customers, as well as those simply looking for a place to hang out.

The store, at just 1,303 square feet, will accommodate about 35 people, she said. The shop, 1235 W. Burnside, will be nestled between California Closets and Whole Foods Market.
