VOLLEYBALL

Record: 18-17 overall, 10-4 NWAC West, finished in third place.

This week: Clark opens play at the NWAC Tournament in Tacoma at 2 p.m. Thursday against Linn-Benton. Win or lose, Penguins would then play either Olympic or Wenatchee Valley. A second-round match would be at 12:30 p.m. Friday; a Penguins loss in the opener would put them in a 6:30 p.m. Thursday elimination match. The double-elimination tournament runs through Sunday. Recent results: def. Grays Harbor 3-0; lost to Green River 3-2.

BASKETBALL

Women: The Penguins are scheduled to open their season at the Yakima Valley Tournament, facing Blue Mountain on Friday. Clark, which finished fifth in the NWAC Tournament last year, features five sophomores. (Click here for women’s roster/schedule)

Men: The Penguins are scheduled to open their season on Saturday at Bellevue. Clark, which finished fifth in the NWAC Tournament last year, features eight sophomores including Battle Ground High grad Willie Bratcher. (Click here for men’s roster/schedule)

MEN’S SOCCER

Honors: NWAC South-East Region All-Star honors for Clark players went to: Octavio Hermosillo (midfielder); Abdiel Morfin and Jacob Young (defenders); Miguel Perez-Flores (goalkeeper); Binaim Afenegus (South coach of year).

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Honors: NWAC South-East Region All-Star honors for Clark players went to: Krista Campbell (defender).
