Letter: Obama unfairly blamed

The Columbian
Published: October 5, 2014, 5:00pm

President Obama left no residual force in Iraq, allowing the rise of ISIS, right? Wrong. The negotiations for removal of all U.S. troops by Dec. 31, 2011, were made during the end of the Bush administration and signed during the last two months he was in office. Even so, the conservatives in Congress consistently blame President Obama for this agreement.

Well, the president has just reached an agreement with Afghanistan to keep 10,000 troops there for an additional decade. I am sure the same conservatives in Congress will heap praise on him for this agreement. … Just in case, I don’t intend to hold my breath until it happens.
