Letter: Charter promises streamlining

The Columbian
Published: September 24, 2014, 5:00pm

In the last few weeks, I’ve read a few letters against the proposed Clark County Charter. Writers say the charter will diminish the role of the commissioners.

I respectfully disagree. Under the new charter, the councilors will be freed up to work together, to make decisions for the county.

The county manager will implement these decisions; much like a business, where a board of directors make decisions, and the CEO puts these decisions into practice. The county manager will be hired by the board of councilors, and can be fired by them, should she/he not work out. This will streamline business at the county. I urge everyone to vote “yes” on the Clark County Charter.
