A robber armed with a large knife accosted a convenience store clerk in Vancouver this afternoon, stealing cigarettes.

The robbery was reported just before 2:30 p.m. at the Shell station, 4905 N.E. 94th Ave., in the VanMall neighborhood.

The clerk told 911 dispatchers that the robber was a black man in his mid-20s, with a large build. He wore eyeglasses and a black-and-red coat, and displayed a large knife with a brown handle.

He was last seen headed toward the Westfield Vancouver mall. Mall security has been notified, and police are in the area looking for the bandit.
