Clark County — Share’s third annual Hunger Appeal fundraiser raised $267,625 for high school food pantries and the Backpack Program, where students’ backpacks are filled with nonperishable food.

“The community truly stepped up and answered our call, helping us to locally raise $55,413 more than last year, which is absolutely fabulous,” said Diane McWithey, executive director.

Some of the money raised, $85,124, came from the CenturyLink Foundation and the rest came from the local community.

About 2,000 children at 90 Clark County schools get food weekly during the school year through the Backpack Program.
