The Columbian’s Nov. 23 editorial, “Record set straight: Planned Parenthood exonerated in probe; now, it’s up to lawmakers to spread word,” trumpets the “48-page four-month report” from the Washington state attorney general’s office. I read the report and it doesn’t merit trumpets.
It has four parts: investigator’s report (4 pages); legislators’ letters (10 pages); Planned Parenthood Eastern WA/North Idaho CEO and UW Vice-Dean for Research Affidavits (10 pages); PP and UW forms (24 pages). No real surprise here — the undercover investigator’s videos of Planned Parenthood abortionists explaining how to obtain undamaged baby organs while aborting the baby and negotiating prices for baby body parts were done outside Washington state. The CEO and Vice-Dean tell us they don’t do such things here.
The real shocking aspect of the videos was the apparent matter-of-fact way in which the abortionists expressed themselves regarding abortion, which many of us consider “abhorrent medical practices.” For a brief moment, the curtain of euphemisms was pulled back and the reality of abortion exposed. And so I agree with The Columbian’s final sentence: “The truth is out there; it should be heard.”
