A tough third quarter sunk the Falcons in the Class 3A District 3/4 bi-district semifinal game at Rogers High School in Puyallup.

Wilson of Tacoma outscored Prairie 19-11 in the third period to establish a lead after the score was tied at halftime. Prairie was unable to get closer than four points in the fourth quarter..

Wednesday’s loss means Prairie (17-6) will play for third place in the bi-district at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday at Rogers against either Sumner or Lincoln. The Falcons have already qualified for the Class 3A state playoffs.

Lindsay Asplund scored 19 points and Prairie had three players score in double figures. But the Falcons hurt their chances with 21 turnovers, according to coach Brett Johnson.

“We didn’t come out and play in the second half the way we needed to,” Johnson said. “They made their shots and we didn’t make ours.”

The Rams had seven more field goals, including one more 3-pointer than the Falcons. Three players did the bulk of the scoring for Wilson. Kapri Morrow led the way with 23 points.

Cherita Daugherty finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, and Emily Peters had 10 points and eight rebounds for Prairie.
