The National Weather Service has issued two advisories for the Vancouver area today, both for dense fog and for stagnant air.

Widespread dense fog is expected to persist in the area through noon today, with most of it hanging in the area west of Interstate 205, according to the weather service.

Patchy freezing fog is expected in outlying areas through 10 a.m., with visibility in most areas restricted to half of a mile and shorter for other areas.

The weather service advised motorists to slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of space between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.

The air stagnation advisory, in effect through Friday, with the areas most affected those that are located away from the mouth of the Columbia Gorge.

The stagnant conditions may lead to deteriorating air quality through at least the end of the work week, according to the weather service.
