PORTLAND — Environmentally conscious taxi riders in Portland have a new option now that an all-electric taxi fleet has launched.
KATU-TV reports that Eco Cab launched Wednesday. The cab fleet of Teslas, Nissan Leafs and high-capacity vans took their first fare from City Commissioner Steve Novick, who rode to work in a Tesla.
City Commissioners voted in March to unanimously approve 51 new taxi licenses for the company, which is based out of Longview.
The cabs will recharge at a facility in the Industrial District.
