With 2 more quakes off Oregon coast, cluster numbers 9

PORTLAND — The tally of earthquakes off the Oregon coast in the past week has reached nine.

The Oregonian reports quakes of magnitude 3.1 and 4.0 were reported Wednesday in a region about 300 miles west of Salem that’s known for shallow earthquakes that pose little risk of tsunamis.

They were among the weaker of the earthquakes that started late Sunday and continued through Monday. The strongest was of magnitude 5.9. They quakes were barely felt onshore.
