A school-shooting threat was found written on a bathroom wall at Wy’East Middle School on Monday, just days before the end of the school year. The east Vancouver school in the Cascade Park area sent students home with a note.

“Over the last month, Wy’East has had some unsubstantiated threats and rumors,” the note said. “Today, someone brought to our attention a threat written approximately six feet up on a wall of one of our girls’ restrooms, speaking of a school shooting at 12:00 noon on Tuesday. We have no verification on when the threat may have been written since it was not in an obvious place. We have reviewed security footage from around the bathroom entrance, but that has proved inconclusive.”

The school has a security team and a Vancouver Police Department school resource officer investigating the incident.

“We will continue to remain vigilant for the remaining time we have left in the school year. As a parent/guardian, you always have the final choice in deciding about your child’s safety and attendance at school,” the note said.
