Children and teens ages 1 through 18 can enjoy a free lunch and free afternoon snack this summer through the Simplified Summer Food Program for children.

The program, funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, provides meals at no charge Monday through Friday from June 23 through Aug. 7.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Fruit Valley Elementary school cafeteria, 3410 Fruit Valley Road. Afternoon snack will be served from 2:45-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Between lunch and afternoon snack, children can participate in games and activities.

Parents are welcome to interact with their children, but will not be served meals.

Sponsored by Educational Service District 112, the program addresses the need for nutritional meals during summer months when school is not in session. Children do not need to attend the school to participate. All children and teens are welcome.

This is not a Vancouver Public Schools program.
