A Vancouver home was left uninhabitable after a fire Wednesday morning.

The fire caused extensive damage to the attic and garage of the home at 9513 N.E. 81st St., in the Sunnyside neighborhood near Five Corners.

Vancouver firefighters were dispatched at 7:48 a.m. to the fire. They were assisted by Clark County Fire District 6.

The fire took at least 10 minutes to knock down. The garage was weakened to the point where it was unsafe to enter.

The fire was declared under control by 8:35 a.m.

The ranch-style house was built in 1959 and is owned by Lorraine Blue, according to Clark County property records.

A fire investigator was dispatched to determine the cause of the fire, and a company was called to board up the home. Firefighters also planned to ask the occupants if they needed assistance from the American Red Cross.
