Prep roundup: Big inning lifts Union baseball past Heritage

Cody Hawken had two hits, including a home run, as the Union baseball team blew open a close game to beat Heritage 10-1 on Thursday.

Union led 2-1 heading into the final inning before scoring eight times in the top of the seventh inning.

• Josh Balsiger, Seton Catholic boys soccer, had three goals and two assists in a 5-0 Trico League win over King’s Way.

• Kordell Vasbinder, Skyview baseball, gave up no earned runs and two hits in six innings of work, striking out eight in the Storm’s 3-1 win over Camas.

• Preston Danberg, King’s Way Christian baseball, went 4 for 7 with a double, two runs and an RBI as the Knights swept White Salmon in a Trico League doubleheader.

• Trevor Huddleston, Woodland baseball, pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out eight in the Beavers’ 10-0 win over Castle Rock.

• Grant Mersinger, Ridgefield baseball, had three doubles and drove in two runs in a 12-4 win over La Center.

• Andrea Besara, Battle Ground tennis, came back from losing the first set to beat Heritage’s Vickie Shcherbina 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match.

• Hailey Oster, Camas golf, was medalist with a 2-over 38 at Camas Meadows in a team win over Mountain View.

• Parker Boyd, Battle Ground softball, hit two home runs as the Tigers beat Prairie 10-5.

• Emma Tucker, Columbia River softball, hit a home run and a triple to help the Chieftains beat Heritage 6-2.

• Josh Ebert, Columbia River baseball, hit one of five Chieftain doubles, three stolen bases and scored two runs in a 9-3 win over Hockinson.

• Jordan Vazquez, La Center boys soccer, scored three goals in the Wildcats’ 5-0 win over Castle Rock.

• Taylor Hartley, Union girls golf, shot a 2-over-par 39 at Tri-Mountain as the Titans beat Columbia River.
