Two were hospitalized Thursday afternoon after their minivan was hit by a vehicle attempting to pass as they turned into a driveway, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Patricia C. Sprague, 64, of Washougal was driving east about 14 miles west of Stevenson, the State Patrol said, ahead of several vehicles.

At about 1 p.m., as she was slowing to make a left turn into a driveway, Paul A. Keating, 48, of Vancouver allegedly tried passing multiple vehicles on the left, then struck Sprague’s minivan.

Sprague and a 16-year-old male passenger were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for their injuries.

Sprague was in the hospital’s intensive care unit Thursday night, but her condition was not available. The teen was treated then released Thursday afternoon.

The State Patrol said Thursday evening the cause of crash was under investigation.
