PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — A central member of an eastern Oregon white supremacist gang has accepted a plea deal in connection with a murder plot and other crimes.
The East Oregonian reports that 36-year-old Warren Browning pleaded guilty Wednesday to racketeering, attempted assault and felon in possession of a firearm. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors have dismissed other gun charges, an assault count and two charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
He is scheduled for sentencing Nov. 20.
Prosecutors say Browning is a member of the United Aryan Empire, which is led by 31-year-old Jeremiah Mauer. Mauer pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of assault. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Mauer, Browning and other members were arrested in January after a vehicle shooting.
