Woods, Noftsker lead locals at state swim

Heritage’s Colleen Woods and Columbia River’s Kara Noftsker are the top local qualifiers for this weekend’s state girls swimming championship in Federal Way.

Woods is seeded third in the 100-yard butterfly and fourth in the 50 freestyle in pre-meet heat sheets for the 4A state meet.

Other locals of note in the 4A meet include Union’s Livi Cox (10th in the 200 individual medley, 19th in the 500 free) and Sruthi Ravi of Mountain View (11th in the 100 backstroke).

Noftsker is seeded fifth in the 100 freestyle and eighth in the 200 freestyle in the 3A state meet. River teammate Makena Wilcox is seeded 17th in the 100 butterfly and 21st in the 50 freestyle.

The meet begins Friday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way with preliminary heats. The 2A prelims begin at 9:45 a.m., followed by 3A at 2 p.m. and 4A at 6:30 p.m. The finals are Saturday for 2A (9:30 a.m.), 3A (2:15 p.m.) and 4A (7 p.m.).
