SPOKANE — A third Spokane police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave in the investigation of an alleged sexual assault involving two other officers.
Spokane city officials said Thursday that Sgt. John Gately was placed on leave.
The alleged sexual assault happened at a party Oct. 25 at the home of officer Doug Strosahl north of Spokane.
Court documents show Sgt. Gordon Ennis is under investigation on suspicion of second-degree rape of a female police officer. All three men have been put on leave.
The female officer reportedly told detectives she had been drinking at the party and passed out in a bedroom. She told police she awoke to find the suspect assaulting her.
Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich told The Spokesman Review Gately is “a person of interest in the criminal investigation.”
