Battle Ground — Members of the Lewis River Rotary Club and students from Battle Ground High School delivered nearly 1,300 dictionaries to the third-graders in the Battle Ground, Hockinson and Ridgefield school districts. As part of the Dictionary Project, Rotary members bring dictionaries to students and show them how much information the books contain. “One of the highlights is showing the students a portion of the information contained in the dictionary, with maps, biographies, and especially pointing out the longest word in the English language, which contains 1,909 letters,” Ralph Akin, former Lewis River Rotary president, wrote in an email.
