Camas girls cross country team runs to first place at Albany meet

The Camas girls cross country team won the Harrier Classic in Albany, Ore., in dominating fashion, placing five runners in the top 13 places overall.

Freshman Rachel Blair won the race, covering the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 11 seconds, finishing five seconds ahead of teammate Emma Jenkins.

Camas finished with 28 points to take the team title. Union was second with 122 points. Camas’ Emily Wilson was fourth and Ellie Postma was eighth. Cassie McKinney placed sixth for Union, and Allie Connell was 10th.

In the boys meet, Yacine Guermali finished second overall in 15:53, leading Camas to second overall. Adam Ryan place seventh for the Papermakers. Heritage’s Ryan Cibart was 10th.

  • Savanna Craig placed first in the Curtis Invitational in Tacoma, winning in 18:32 as the Thunder girls placed eighth as a team.
  • Ethan Mayers placed first overall in 17:40 to lead the Hudson’s Bay boys won the Harvest Classic in Longview.
  • Quinn Nelson of Battle Ground placed third overall at the Champoeg Invitational at Champoeg State Park in Oregon.
