One sentence struck me while reading the Oct. 14 story, “Madore dominates funding for Pike,” regarding the write-in campaign of Liz Pike for Clark County council chair. That sentence wasn’t about the more than a quarter-million dollars Councilor David Madore has contributed — it was what spokesman Christian Berrigan said about spreading “the message.” Here’s the sentence: “Berrigan denied that the write-in campaign is trying to buy the county chair race, saying the only way to successfully run a write-in campaign is to ‘get your message out.’ ”
I’d like to know what message? No one has heard from Pike. How can any informed resident in good conscience vote without being informed on a candidate’s positions? It seems that if Pike does get elected without informing voters of her positions as the other candidates are doing, then we will know that more stupid stuff happened — and, no doubt, will continue to happen.
Voters must be informed. Shame on all participants of this write-in campaign. I want Clark County to get down to the business of running the county for the betterment of its residents, businesses, and our future — without all this cronyism and stupid stuff. That’s my message.
