A driver who was shot in north Clark County on Sunday night drove himself to a north Portland medical office, but not before getting in a vehicle crash along the way.

At about 8:05 p.m., police were dispatched to 2305 Northeast 209th Street in the Ridgefield area, said Sgt. Randon Walker of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Police received reports that someone tried to run over a resident at that address with a pickup truck, and that a resident fired a gun at the vehicle, striking the driver, Walker said.

The driver fled the scene in the pickup, which was soon involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Northeast 199th Street and 29th Avenue, Walker said. The driver fled the scene, and nobody was seriously injured in the vehicle crash, Walker said.

Victims in the hit-and-run crash reported seeing bullet holes in the pickup truck, Walker said.

Later in the evening, Portland law enforcement officials discovered that a pickup truck with bullet holes in it was parked at a Kaiser Permanente medical office on North Interstate Avenue in Portland and alerted Clark County officials, Walker said.

Portland police found a man at the medical office who was suffering from traumatic injuries related to gunfire, according to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau. The man was transported by ambulance to a Portland trauma center for treatment, according to the news release.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, and more information was not available as of 11 p.m. Sunday.
