• Clark College Student Learning Center is looking for volunteer tutors to help adult students with basic reading, writing, math and English communication skills.
• National Park Service and the city of Vancouver are looking for 150 volunteers to help species experts count birds, mammals and insects at Vancouver Lake Park on Sept. 26.
• Furry Friends is looking for a volunteer full-charge bookkeeper for about 10 hours monthly. References will be required. Help is also needed with fostering, pet showings, administration, fundraising, transportation, in the adoption center, and with one-on-one interaction.
• Volunteer Center seeks information desk specialists to answer questions and provide directions at the Public Service Center.
• Lifeline Connections seeks help with photos, filing and general office duties.
Vancouver Public Schools is looking for volunteers in its Lunch Buddy Mentoring Program. Spend 45 minutes per week with a student, eat lunch together, play games or talk, and strive to be a positive role model. Over 100 students are waiting for mentors. Teachers attest that students in the program have improved attendance and attitudes from their weekly interactions with dependable adult volunteers.

The city of Battle Ground seeks to fill a position on its Civil Service Commission for a six-year term beginning Jan. 1. The primary focus of the commission, which generally meets monthly, is to ensure that civil service pre-employment testing and hiring decisions are done in a fair, valid and competitive manner. Civil Service Commissioners must live within Battle Ground city limits, and have been city residents for at least three years. They must also be U.S. citizens and registered to vote.
